Let it SNOW!

It snowed some yesterday, but this morning we woke up to a Winter Wonderland! I've lived in Utah for 13 years now, and do not remember getting this much snow all at once. It was over 15 inches!

look at all that snow!
Ryan calculated that he shoveled 800 CUBIC feet of snow!

It is the last day of school before Christmas -- a half day -- today. School wasn't canceled, but our streets were not plowed in time to go to school. Our neighbor was supposed to do the carpool and she has a big 4-wheel drive, so I wasn't worried. But when it was time to leave, she told us that she wasn't sending her son to school. Being one who will only miss school when really sick, I sent the boys anyway. Ryan was still shoveling the driveway and we made them walk to school.

I looked out the back window a few minutes later to check on their progress . . . poor Benjamin was falling down as he trudged through all the snow! For a moment I wondered what I'd done -- was I a bad mom for sending them to school like that? But it was too late to do anything about it.

The snow stopped coming down by the time Ryan finished shoveling (it's easy to forget how LONG our driveway is until it needs shoveling!), and so the neighbor ended up taking her son to school. I felt better about sending my kids earlier :)

It is now cleared up and sunny. Ryan was able to make it to work safely. It is beautiful to look at and for the boys to play in (Elizabeth and I are staying in where it's warm). I'm glad we are flying to Virginia tomorrow and that the snow didn't mess up our travel plans!
