Yesterday I was explaining to the 3 boys that my 90-year-old grandpa is getting really sick and that we will probably be going to a funeral next week. I was surprised by what they said next:
Benjamin (in a nonchalant, upbeat tone): "It's been a while since we've been to a funeral."
Nathan: "I get to wear my funeral socks!"
Huh? What are those?! Upon further questioning, he apparently remembers which set of church socks he wore the last time we went to a funeral :)

Silly kids!!! I am so sorry to hear about your Grandpa. Even when they have lived a long and full life it is still so hard to say goodbye. We will be thinking about you. My 93 year old Grandpa will most likely pass away in the next couple of days also. We are so lucky that we have had our Grandpa's for as long as we have.
It must be something in the air because my grandma just passed away too--but it was because of a car accident. Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. I agree with Karson, it is really hard to say goodbye even when they have been here so long. It's really funny what your kids said about it though. Jamie thought we were going to fly to heaven when we were on our way to my grandma's viewing because I told her we were going to see her great grandma and she knew she was in heaven. It was cute.
