In the afternoon we put the candy on the cake and enjoyed the nice weather outside. When Ryan got home we went to Winger's. They brought Joshua a sundae, and he made the funniest expression the entire time they were singing to him -- he wouldn't make eye contact and he raised his eyebrows and opened his mouth wide. I didn't have the camera ready, so by the time I took this picture his expression had changed slightly:

Back at home, Joshua entertained us with more excited and silly expressions while he opened presents.

After he opened this one he exclaimed, "Flip flops! That's what I've always wanted!"

His train cake was made from a cupcake set I have that uses different shaped cupcakes to make cake patterns. It looks kind of silly on a silver platter, but that is the only tray I could find that was long enough for the whole train!

I always love the kids' birthdays because then there are new toys to keep the kids entertained for at least a week ;) He has really enjoyed his Toy Story (R.C.) legos, Trio blocks, Toy Story Ker Plunk, a mix-and-match car building kit, and even his flip flops that I'm sure I'll have to hide when it will most likely snow next week! But the first thing he wanted to show the neighbor friends the next day: his Cars beach towel! I love how Joshua is always so enthusiastic, even about the little things. Happy Birthday, buddy!

I LOVE the cake!! So cute! Ethan turn's 4 in 2 weeks. I enjoyed seeing what toys Joshua got as I think about what to get Ethan. We won't buy much until we return to the states next month.
That cake is awesome! I love that he got to help decorate it. I bet he loved it!
